Our Story

Sweet Valley Clinic opened thank to Emma, the founder. Here are her values and thoughts about this project.

I’ve always felt that family is the most important part of life. My aim is to create a space where clients will belong to a family where one can feel seen and supported. As a clinic, we intend on working as a multidisciplinary team. In this way, should a client need more than one health professional on a case, other professionals in our team are available and able to work hand-in-hand to provide the best care.

Within my own family, there have been midwives and doulas for generations and I was always drawn to the idea of being a part of that tradition. Over the many years, I’ve worked in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, both locally and abroad, gaining a vast knowledge and experience in the area.

I want a stronger emphasis on patient-centred care, continuity of care, and increased psychological help in the health sector. I decided to create a clinic where the clients have access to their own health records, and are able to make well-informed decision through information available.

The name of this clinic honours a childhood memory, when every week whilst passing through a valley in San Gwann, my mother Miriam, would sing a song to my sisters and I. Unfortunately, we do not know the name of the song that our mother used to grace our ears with. Nevertheless, my sisters and I clearly remember that the song had the words “down on the sweet valley”. This clinic fulfils a dream that she unfortunately never had the chance to accomplish. Although she is no longer with us today, her knowledge as a midwife has been passed onto many professionals in this sector.
